Sentara Heart Hospital located on the Campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for the Cardiac Cath Holding Care – Pre-Op Unit!

This position is Full Time 6am to 4pm shift, 4 days a week.  No weekends.


Up to $15,000 Sign on Bonus and Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.   

Department/Position Overview:

Our unit is open M-F 6A-11P, closed on major holidays.

• This position is for 6am to 4pm, working 4 days a week. No Call Required
• The 30-bed unit prepares and recovers patients for procedures in the Cath lab, EP lab, and Minor Procedure Room as well as the Cardiac OR for surgery.
• The average patient volume each day for this unit is approximately 40-50 patients.
• The types of procedures that we prepare and recover patients for include but is not limited to: Cardiac Catheterization (interventional and diagnostic), Electrophysiology procedures (cardiac ablations, ICDs/Pacemakers, etc), Cardioversions, and Cardiac surgery patients (VATs, Mini thoracotomies and I&Ds).

Registered Nurse must have 1+ years of bedside nursing experience.  Cardiac experience preferred.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education/Certification/Licensure: 

Diploma RN, associate degree RN, bachelor’s degree RN, or master’s degree RN.  

BLS Required within 90 days and ACLS required within 1 year of hire date.

RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.

BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PAL
