Position Summary

The Field Services Engineer – Caribbean Region acts as Suffolk’s main representative for technology service delivery and support in the area. Based at the St. Thomas regional office, this role will also have a presence at all project sites across St. Thomas and St. Croix, with expansion to additional regional sites and offices as they become operational. As a permanent position with opportunities for career advancement, it is a key part of Suffolk’s global Field Engineering team, serving as the primary IT partner for the Caribbean region. 

The engineer takes pride in delivering dependable frontline IT services, supporting team needs, and ensuring technology is prepared for the jobsite. They work diligently to sustain excellent regional network performance and collaborate closely with both local and mainland teams to enhance safety and efficiency on projects. Having a strong cultural understanding, knowledge of regional technology providers, and the confidence to work independently in construction environments are valuable strengths for this role.

Responsibilities

Regional Technology Operations

  • Serve as the primary IT representative for St. Thomas and St. Croix initially, with plans to expand to the broader region as regional growth occurs.
  • Assist with regional office operations and enable job-site technology needs, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Deliver high-quality service across the regional technology ecosystem, including endpoints, networks, cloud services, and construction technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with the central Service Delivery & Support team to manage escalations and ensure our enterprise services are aligned and operate smoothly.

Jobsite Technology Enablement

  • Deploy and maintain jobsite technology, including networks, A/V equipment, and endpoints.
  • Manage field communications, terrestrial connectivity, Wi-Fi, cellular backup systems, and satellite links to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Assist with mobilization and demobilization efforts alongside mainland surge teams and third parties to ensure smooth coordination and seamless operations.
  • Ensure job sites are well-equipped to enable seamless real-time collaboration, cloud-based workflows, and the latest construction technology platforms.
