The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Selected candidate will serve as Manager to the Command & Control Software Tools group. This interdisciplinary software group is responsible for various software systems and infrastructure critical to the successful development, test, operation and management of the Spaceport Command and Control System (SCCS).
- Provide overall leadership to the various teams within the C&C Software Tools group
- Responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling allocated resources in support of development activities
- Resolve conflicts and drive issue resolution for assigned teams
- Identify and prepare resource estimates and work within with budget limitations.
- Match department resources and daily activities with program objectives and milestones
- Ensure cost, technical and schedule performance for assigned teams are met
- Ensure code quality, standards and requirements are met
- Hiring, mentorship and evaluation of personnel
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications – External
Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area; at least 10 years related experience including at least three years of successfully managing people.

Job Requirements
- Extensive experience with full software development lifecycle process
- Prior experience developing safety-critical code
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Experience interfacing with customers and Senior Management
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Personnel are required to be self-motivated, team players familiar with working in a dynamic work environment
Highly desirable:
- Experience with CMMI Level 3 or higher compliance
- Experience with simulation software development
- Experience with Linux and networked systems
Physical Requirements
- May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
- Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
- Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
