Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Nursing - Hospital is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and operations within an ER/Medical-Surgical department. This role involves ensuring high-quality patient care, coordinating staff activities, managing resources, and providing support and guidance to nursing personnel. The supervisor plays a key role in developing protocols and policies to enhance patient care and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. This will be a shared role with another ADON.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise nursing staff in department, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of McKenzie Health.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients undergoing treatment in an emergency, outpatient setting, and within inpatient/swing bed areas.
- Monitor patient outcomes and implement best practices to improve care quality.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and monitor key performance indicators.
- Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff on ER/Medical-Surgical best practices, new treatments, and advancements in patient care. Facilitate continuing education opportunities.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans for patients. Assist with Discharge Planning for all patients.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to address patient needs. Attends daily Case Management meetings. Assist with other nursing departments as requested.
- Address concerns and questions from patients and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources throughout their stay.
