Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology (Organismal Biology)

The Department of Biology at St. Mary’s College of Maryland invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Organismal Biology beginning August 2025. We seek a biologist with demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate education and mentorship. Teaching responsibilities include participating in biology core courses as needed (Contemporary Biosciences, Principles of Biology I, Principles of Biology II, Genetics, Ecology and Evolution) and upper division electives in their specialty. This position is contingent upon budgetary approval.

Non-sectarian since its founding, St. Mary's College of Maryland is a public Carnegie Baccalaureate, Arts and Sciences institution which has been designated as Maryland's public honors college. We are located in St. Mary's City, 70 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. With selective admissions policies, academically talented students, and a rigorous curriculum, we offer a small college experience similar to that found at exceptional private colleges. Qualifications

• Ph.D. required; postdoctoral training and/or teaching experience preferred.
• We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching as well as maintaining an active research program that has the potential to involve undergraduates.
• The successful candidate must produce the necessary documentation to legally work in the U.S. upon hire.

Employment will be contingent upons successful completion of a criminal background check. 

The salary range is $65k - $70k, depending on qualifications and experience.
