How You Will Make an Impact
- Perform tests and inspections in accordance with written procedures for: stability samples, raw materials and packaging components, in-process manufactured material, and finished product (bulk or packaged).
- Document laboratory activities including worksheet/notebook or LIMS entries according to procedures that define laboratory documentation practices.
- Process electronic data using procedures that ensure data integrity and security.
- Review logbooks, notebooks, worksheets and LIMS data entries for the purpose of verifying compliance with written procedures, good documentation practices, data integrity and accuracy of calculations.
- Review logbooks, notebooks, and LIMS entries supporting tests performed by peers for accuracy, completeness and compliance with all relevant procedures.
- Maintain compliant workspaces in a state of readiness for regulatory inspection (proper storage, labeling, general housekeeping)
- Dispose of laboratory waste on an as needed basis.
- Perform and document daily standardization and performance verifications on laboratory equipment.
- Comply with site wide procedures including but not limited to change control, documentation, deviation reporting, cGMP compliance, safety, and electronic data security.
- At the discretion of QC management, may qualify as trainers on specific laboratory procedures.
- Comply with DEA regulations and internal controlled substances security and reconciliation procedures.
- Identify OOS results, atypical results, and atypical laboratory events requiring a laboratory investigation. Perform investigative testing, as required.
- Identify deviations to written procedures.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions within the laboratory and sampling areas.
- Perform testing to support method validations/compendial verifications and method transfers.
What You Will Bring to the Role
- Associate’s degree in laboratory sciences or related scientific discipline is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline is highly preferred.
- For a candidate with an associate’s degree: a minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in a pharmaceutical/biologics laboratory environment with cGMP experience is required.
- Basic understanding of the theory and operation of a variety of analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, dissolution, FT-IR, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, etc.) as well as wet chemical analysis is highly preferred.
- Basic understanding of analytical techniques used in the laboratory, such as pipetting, weighing, drying, filtering, titrations, reflux preparations, etc.
- Basic knowledge of GLP/cGMP regulations is preferred
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures applicable to a laboratory environment is required.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently or with a team in an effective manner
- Ability to react quickly to changes in priorities and timelines.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
- Experience with electronic document management systems and chromatography data management software (Empower/Chemstation) would be an asset.
- Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, business periodicals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, basic financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from managers, co-workers, customers, or regulatory agencies. Ability to write basic reports, business correspondence and simple technical reports.
- Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity.
