Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
New York Life is undergoing a significant transformation in our Tech, Data, and AI organization to modernize how we operate, how we plan, and how we use data and AI to drive decisions. We’re looking for a talented Data Analyst with experience in workforce analytics and planning or operations who thrives on change, enjoys solving ambiguous problems, and knows how to turn data into insights that leaders can act on.
This role sits at the intersection of business analytics and workforce strategy. You’ll partner with technology, operations, and workforce stakeholders to analyze trends, forecast needs, and help shape decisions around capacity, skills, and operating models. If you enjoy using data to tell a compelling story that leads to real action, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze workforce and operational data to support planning, forecasting, and decision-making across Tech, Data & AI Operations.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets across multiple sources.
- Leverage platforms such as Databricks (or similar modern data environments) to work with structured and semi-structured data.
- Partner with business and workforce stakeholders to translate strategic questions into analytical approaches and deliver clear, actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting solutions, and analytical models that highlight trends related to capacity, demand, productivity, skills, and cost.
- Support workforce planning activities including headcount planning, demand forecasting, scenario modeling, and skills analysis.
- Apply data storytelling techniques to present insights in ways that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to transformation initiatives by improving data quality, enhancing analytical processes, and helping mature workforce analytics capabilities.
- Bring structure and analytical rigor to ambiguous problems in a fast-evolving environment.
What You'll Bring:
- 5-10 years of experience in data analysis, business analytics, workforce analytics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Experience working in or familiarity with Databricks or comparable cloud-based data platforms.
- Hands-on experience working with workforce-related data (e.g., headcount, capacity, demand, skills, utilization, or planning models).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience using data to tell a story and influence decisions, not just report results.
- Proficiency with data and analytics tools such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Comfort working in a dynamic, transforming environment where priorities evolve and ambiguity is part of the job.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
- A mindset of continuous improvement—curious, proactive, and eager to learn.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting workforce planning, capacity modeling, or operating model transformation.
- Familiarity with technology or data/AI organizations and their operating rhythms.
- Exposure to automation, AI, or advanced analytics concepts in a workforce or operations context.
Why This Role
- Be part of a high-impact transformation within Tech, Data & AI.
- Work on problems that matter. Shape how teams are planned, staffed, and enabled for the future.
- Balance analytical depth with business partnership and storytelling.
- Grow your skills at the intersection of data, workforce strategy, and business decision-making.
