The Opportunity:

Warnings about cyber threats are everywhere and the constantly evolving nature of these threats can make understanding them seem overwhelming to government agencies. In all of this “cyber noise”, how can these organizations understand their risks and how to mitigate them? The answer is you – build your knowledge as a security steward who knows how to break down complex threats into manageable plans of action.

As a security steward on our team, you will be responsible for documenting and directly supporting IT security and privacy efforts for individual IT systems. You will advise system owners regarding security considerations, including applications systems’ procurement, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance and disposal activities. You’ll document security controls and privacy impact assessments for the security Authorization for IT systems. This is your opportunity to take an active role in assisting the ISSO with conducting change management for the IT systems they support.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience in an information assurance or cybersecurity role

• 3+ years of experience supporting FISMA requirements

• Experience with reviewing and answering NIST 800-53 requirements

• Knowledge of federal cyber requirements and guidelines, including NIST 800-37, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-53a, NIST 800-60, FIPS, and OMB A-130

• Knowledge of Vulnerability Management, Assessment and Authorization, and Incident Response processes

• Knowledge of information security principles and best practices

• Ability to work with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, or Project Server

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

• HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

• Knowledge of eGRC tools, including RSA Archer

• Knowledge of network servers, databases, and applications scanning tools, including Nessus, Fortify, Web Inspect, or Squirrel

• Ability to translate vulnerability scan results into findings aligned to NIST SP 800-53 security controls

• 8500 Compliant Certification
