Job summary
Hi, I'm Sarah and I have been leading the Community Respiratory team on the Isle of Wight for many years and I can't imagine working anywhere else. We are looking for a Band 6 Respiratory Specialist to join our team.
We are looking for a qualified nurse, but our goal is to find someone with passion and interest in respiratory conditions. Therefore, we are happy to consider candidates with other qualifications, such as Physiotherapy, Physiology or Occupational therapy.
Our team works with patients in the community to support them at home with their chronic respiratory conditions, in their pulmonary rehabilitation rehab journey and during acute episodes.
In our team we have Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists and Respiratory support workers, and we work closely with the wider Multidisciplinary Team as well as with colleagues in Primary and Secondary care services.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
Establish and develop skilled practice in the multidisciplinary management and nursing care of adult patients with a range of respiratory conditions, predominantly Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis and those requiring oxygen therapy.
To identify specific needs in education of patients, relatives, and staff and facilitate meeting these requirements.
Rotate to the virtual ward team on an agreed timeframe and to support the delivery of Pulmonary rehabilitation.
Work with the lead TB consultant to take a lead on TB contact tracing, support , advice and guidance.

Qualifications
Essential
RN Level 1 registration with the NMC
Post registration respiratory qualification or equivalent experience
Teaching/Mentorship qualification or equivalent experience
Possession of a degree or equivalent
Desirable
Evidence of post-graduate CPD
Evidence of post-graduate CPD in Respiratory
Experience
Essential
Minimum of 3 years post registration experience
Post Graduate Nursing Experience relevant to this post (e.g. community, respiratory, holistic assessment, chronic disease, acute medical illness)
Desirable
Experience working in Community
Experience working in Respiratory
Previous experience in Similar role
Post-graduate Training to this post
Additional Criteria
Essential
Current license to drive a car and in possession of a car.
Satisfactory health record
Physically able to perform all aspects of the job.
