PURPOSE/SCOPE:
This is a leadership position responsible for all aspects of Environment, Health, Safety, and Security at an enterprise level. By partnering with global business unit leadership, operations/facility teams, and the sustainability team, this position will lead cultural improvements in our Thriving People. initiative, workplace safety & education, and environmental compliance programs. This leader is also responsible for engaging global stakeholders to support compliance to current and future regulations from all relevant bodies such as OSHA, the European Union, WHMIS, DOT, EPA, NFPA, and others. This includes knowledge of International, Federal, State, and Local standards that impact our global facilities, operations, and employees. Top candidates will have a strong background in developing and implementing global EHS compliance strategy and proven results of building and sustaining a committed, caring safety culture.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Direct, sustain and drive continuous improvement of Tennant’s Environment, Health, Safety, and Security framework and operating model for a global manufacturing, sales & service company
· Collaborate and align with Global Operations and regional Sales/Service groups on yearly goals and objectives
· Oversee the creation and administration of EHS and security policies and procedures, ensuring implementation throughout the organization
· Direct and conduct regular audits of prioritized elements of Tennant’s global EHS & security programs
· Construct/refine audit tools for compliance with corporate and regulatory environmental, health, safety, and security requirements and company standards. This includes local, state, and federal codes and where they apply, plus rules established by the international regulatory and economic communities. Report findings to management as required
· Identify and refine KPIs for global EHS and report monthly to corporate leadership and as required to corporate committees. This includes administering final decisions on recordable injuries, the accident investigation procedure, and lost time metrics across the enterprise
· Oversee the development of training and communication programs to build the Company’s knowledge and awareness of EHS issues and associated corporate compliance standards
· Oversee tactical execution of the EHS playbook at three corporate-responsible facilities: Company HQ in Eden Prairie, the Innovation Center, and the IPC-Eagle Burnsville facility
· Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to pursue continuous improvement of Tennant’s global Worker’s Compensation and lost workdays liability
· Select qualified individuals to fill departmental positions. Develop career path objectives and guide the development of their technical and supervisory abilities
· Assess potential merger/acquisition candidates and serve on integration teams after transactions are closed
· Direct corporate vendor programs as required such as glasses, shoes, and security systems
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in health and safety, safety engineering, environmental health, or related risk management field required
