Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and supervision of the manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the complex and critical job of endoscope and equipment decontamination / reprocessing and is the departmental expert in this vitally important area. You may also be assigned to assisting with equipment & procedure room preparation, setup, calibration prior to procedures; procedure room breakdown; specimen collection in the GI LAB, inventory control, and scope reprocessing. Responsible for testing, arranging repair and documentation of endoscope processing and repair.

Salary Range: $33.52 - $43.35/hourly

Job Qualifications

• Completion of education from accredited surgical technician program or certified as GI Technician
• BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• At least one year of Surg Tech/GI Tech experience
• Knowledge and adherence to GI Lab policies and procedures following orientation.
• Skill in reading documents written in Standard English text such as, administrative policy and procedure manuals
• Skill in evaluation and implementation of technical information such as operation manuals and directions for use of disinfectants, lubricants and other cleaning agents
• Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly to obtain and convey information to various levels within the organization
• Writing skills sufficient to use appropriate vocabulary and grammar when logging, reporting etc.
• Ability to speak on a one to one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and provide information
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all team members and ancillary staff
• Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions
• Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect importance to job responsibilities
• Ability to work independently and interdependently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction
• Ability to adapt to change either in workload or in assignments.
• Skill and manual dexterity required to work with intricate equipment without dropping or damaging it
