About the role

Job Summary
Manages all day-to-day operational activities at one or multiple locations to assure traffic handling and related activities are accomplished in an efficient, cost-effective, and safe manner. Supports and enhances the service necessary to meet prescribed marketing objectives within established budget. Leads CSX Intermodal in delivering services that meet or exceed customer expectations in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Leadership and accountability for setting policy, processes and procedures that lead to a safe and effective operation.
  • Ensure that train plan and terminal plan are in harmony to minimize arrival to spot times on inbound trains, maintain sufficient time to efficiently load all outbound cargo and make on time releases of outbound train, and reduce the amount of unproductive track time.
  • Leadership over facilities maintenance, upgrades, and updates in accordance with CSX rules and guidelines.
  • Determine sufficient staffing levels and establish schedules to maximize the use of clerical and contract employees.
  • Determine training requirements and implement training of all new employees and recurrent training for all other employees and contractors
  • Ensure adherence to all CSX Intermodal safety and environmental policies.
  • Ensure all necessary departments of CSX Intermodal are informed of all terminal needs and special conditions.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 4 or more years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience in any field

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 8 or more years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience in any field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of industry safety policies and practices
  • Knowledge of Intermodal customer base and market environment
  • Knowledge of Intermodal facility and infrastructure management
  • Knowledge of industry safety policies and practices

Job Requirements

  • Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
  • Wear protective equipment (such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection)
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
