About you and this role

We are looking for the next Maintenance Instrument Technician to support Poly B in Plaquemine, LA. As the Maintenance Instrument Technician, you provide maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintain and repair all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. This role requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and correct equipment problems.
  • Calibrate and align equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities.
  • Check sizing of components and parts.
  • Specify, requisition, and install parts and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance spare parts.
  • Assist in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
  • Set up and calibrate, test, measure and repair all types of controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic variables.
  • Repair, maintain and install equipment and machinery which is used in the process.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions and document failure analysis.
  • Collect equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
  • Work within established Maintenance Work Processes and help resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.
  • Participates in startup coverage, weekend callout, and night shift work as needed.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of an associate's degree in science or technical related discipline required. In lieu of degree, 3 years of relevant military training/experience accepted OR a high school diploma/equivalent and 3 years of relevant instrument/maintenance experience required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.  
  • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.  Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.

Your Skills

  • Instrumentation & Calibration: Proficient in setting up, calibrating, aligning, and testing pneumatic, electrical, and electronic instruments and controls.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Skilled in diagnosing equipment issues, performing failure analysis, and implementing effective repairs.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Experienced in executing routine maintenance tasks and collecting operational data to support equipment reliability.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Capable of maintaining, repairing, and installing process
