Episcopal High School is seeking a faculty member that will report to their respective Department Chair for guidance, support, and accountability in teaching. The Head Softball Coach reports to the Athletic Director for guidance, support, and accountability in all athletic matters.

This dual role supports the academic mission of the school while leading and developing the softball program in a manner consistent with the school’s mission and Guiding Principles.

 

Teaching Responsibilities


Support the school’s Mission & Guiding Principles and the school’s DCI Statement & priorities through appropriate words and actions.
Design, prepare, and implement lessons, activities, and resources that facilitate active and effective learning.
Develop, administer, and provide timely feedback on various types of assessments aligned with course objectives.
Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Build strong rapport with students and provide individual support as needed.
Incorporate technology effectively and regularly into instruction.
Communicate student progress with parents, advisors, and school leadership.
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students and fulfill all requirements of the Advisory Program.
Lead by example in Daily Chapel, including Family Chapel.
Attend and actively participate in department meetings and required school events.
Collaborate with colleagues by sharing resources and best practices.
Fulfill all elements of the school’s Essential Expectations and Standards of Excellence in Teaching.


 

Head Softball Coach Responsibilities


Schedule athletic events in consultation with the Athletic Director and the school’s “no contest” calendar.
Secure officials for scrimmages and games.
Collaborate with staff to resolve scheduling and facility conflicts.
Provide team rosters at the beginning of each season and communicate roster changes throughout the season.
Be present at all practices and games.
Report all game scores to athletic administration.
Distribute, collect, and inventory team gear each season.
Complete Safeguarding God’s Children training (in person and online).
Maintain positive relationships with parents, alumni, and friends of the program to promote the team and the school.
Attend and participate in athletic department meetings.


 

Qualifications


Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff, parents, and students.
Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively.
Ability to supervise and manage multiple functions and activities.
Previous Head Coaching experience preferred.
