About the Role

The Community UX team is responsible for the Twitch viewer and streamer experience across the product ecosystem building and maintaining a cross-platform live streaming service that supports the growth and development of streamer based communities. We are looking to add a Principal UX Designer, Personalization to our team. Working closely with our discovery, identity, and recommendations teams, this designer will be responsible for the right users getting the right content at the right time - from onboarding to becoming an engaged member of the Twitch community. A Principal designer is expected to lead design at a program level, work with multiple senior XFN partners across orgs, represent work to executive leadership, guide and mentor junior designers and will report directly to a Director of Design. Designers at Twitch are involved in development from project conception all the way through execution and iteration. You can work from Twitch’s headquarters in San Francisco, CA; or from one of our US based hub locations in Seattle, WA; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA or New York City, NY.

You Will

- Lead design strategy for content personalization and user engagement initiatives
Create designs and prototypes for presentation to execs and peers, and handoff to engineering partners

- Collaborate with a cross functional development team of product managers, ML engineers, engineers, and designers, and content programming teams

- Work with our UX Research and Data Science teams to combine qualitative and quantitative information to develop hypotheses about customer motivations and use that to improve your designs

- Learn from streamers and viewers about the ways they use our services and and imagine the future of the service

- Help shape Twitch's design future by evolving our design systems and mentoring designers across the organization

Basic Qualifications


- 7+ years of professional experience in user experience design
- Portfolio demonstrating experience with content personalization and discovery features (e.g. user identity/profiles, recommendations, feeds, search & browse)
- Experience creating interactive prototypes for mobile platforms
- Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts through storytelling and narrative techniques

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in video content, social media, or streaming platforms
- Experience as a content creator
- Workshop facilitation experience
- Formal education in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
