About the role

ICF is seeking licensed mental health counselors to act as coaches to service members on a call center project. The purpose of this project is to provide support for service members who are in transition between physical locations and will need to transition from one mental health provider to another.  The project requires licensed coaches who are trained and capable of providing mental health care. These licensed mental health professionals will bridge the gap between identification of and receipt of mental health care, as well as moderate to severe TBI care. The contract will provide services for a broad range of customers, to include Active-Duty service members, Reserve Component, National Guard, Coast Guard, and veterans. This position reports to the Coaching Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Coach responsibilities include:

  • Outreaching to referred service members to facilitate transition support
  • Providing brief coaching to service members on what is needed to become enrolled in new service and on strategies for coping while they are in transition between mental health providers
  • Identifying mental health providers who are in network with the right specialty to match the needs of the service members
  • Conducting warm handoffs to the new mental health provider
  • Following up with service members in a timely manner to all inquiries
  • Documenting all coaching contacts and interactions following specified protocols

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a master’s degree in a mental health-related field 
  • Must be a licensed mental health professional (social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, behavioral health counseling) 
  • 1+ years of clinical experience in triage, care management, motivational interviewing, and crisis counseling 
  • 3-5 years of experience working with military service members and veterans regarding mental health 

Preferred Skills:

  • A minimum of three years of experience delivering in-person patient care 
  • strong skills in understanding complex family relationships and dynamics and demonstrated ability to review case files and assess/document information from a variety of sources.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite; ability to learn and use IT systems developed specifically for use with this project in a timely manner.

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficient with MS office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
