None/Not RequiredThe Collins Aerospace Avionics business is an industry-leading avionics provider for government and commercial customers around the world. Our expertise includes flight deck avionics, communication & navigation equipment, aircraft sensors, fire protection and safety systems. We are looking for an experienced Contracts Professional to support our Product Line organization and their associated contract needs. The candidate for this role will provide business advise and represent the Legal, Compliance & Contracts (“LCC”) organization in contract matters, support product line strategy discussions/actions and provide contracts management throughout all phases of the contract lifecycle.
The candidate for this role will also be a key member of the LCC Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestiture efforts as the occur within the Avionics business. This position will involve strategic project management that interfaces with the entire LCC within the Avionics business and interacts with the central Collins Contracts organization; Assists in the development of processes and policy design in support of the Contracting function. Influence and collaborate with the program office, senior management, and others in the organization on complex contractual issues. This individual will be a key contributing staff member of the Product Line VP for Vision & Sensing Systems.
What You Will Do:
- Implements service excellence strategies to improve the relationship between the legal function and other functional departments within the business.
- Provides contractual strategy insights to product line professionals regarding early lifecycle product strategy and end of life product obligations/strategies.
- Interfaces with Supply Chain Contracts counterparts to ensure symmetry in contracting.
- Participates in strategic projects and analysis relating to Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestitures.
- Helps leadership train employees to ensure understanding of and adherence to Collins contracting policies and procedures.
- Advises management of contractual rights and obligations to protect the organization’s legal and business interests.
- Facilitates risk mitigation while balancing customer relationships.
- Compiles and analyzes data and maintains historical information to ensure ease of accessibility and retrieval of artifacts.
- Oversees the completion of proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, to provide for proper contract fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.
- Assists in the entire contract lifecycle, including but not limited to the proposal process, ensuring compliance with the Collins Management System (“CMS”).
- Provides legal advice to leadership and other functional areas on contractual administration.
- Prepares legal documentation for legal and contract negotiations to improve relationships.
- Prepares legal applications and supports capturing approval for new contracts, as needed.
- Ensure that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policy and contract workflows.
- Advise management of contractual rights and obligations and possible mitigation of contractual/program risks.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in negotiating contract terms, drafting and dispute resolution
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Aerospace industry experience
- Team management in a remote setting
- Corporate strategy implementation to facilitate the relationship between the legal department and other departments.
- Demonstrable professional understanding of all the contractual aspects of supply chain activity in an international environment (USA, Canada, EU)
- Experience in monitoring compliance and ensuring the flow down and communication of supply chain contractual requirements
- Advanced degree and/or formal legal education such as a JD and/or License to practice law
