About the role
Essential Functions:
- Meet regularly with Lead Nurse Practitioner and Lead PSR to ensure smooth operations in the clinical setting.
- Ensure all patient document collections are correctly entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- In collaboration with IT, Clinical Practice Supervisor and Clinical Practice Manager, trains the CMAs in proper use of the EHR and provides feedback on EHR users’ competencies.
- Provides input into curriculum design/scripts for EHR training, including input for the development of training manuals.
- Able to trouble shoot, refer and problem-solve concerns about the EHR application, questions and workflow.
- Manage patient workflow to ensure timely access to care.
- Liaison between the front Patient Services Representatives (PSRs) and back (MAs, Providers) of integrated primary care to ensure excellent communication, high quality patient care and patient/staff satisfaction.
- Collaborate with social work staff on resolving registration/Third Party Liability (TPL) issues identified by Practice Management.
- Manges insurance related coordination of benefits issues.
- Maintain confidentiality practices and deliver Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, at all times.
- Involved in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
- Manages the inventory of supplies, acquisition of equipment.
- Ensures compliance with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), SHS, and other governmental agencies policies and procedures.
- Serves on SHS’s committees
- Conduct telephone triage and in person; collaborates with Registered Nurse to address patients with complex needs.
- Assist with daily appointment scheduling as needed.
- Practice Universal precautions at all times. Practice sterile technique with sterile procedures at all times.
- Work with CMAs to ensure completion of requests for referrals and refills in a timely manner.
- Provides back up support for the medical assistant team, which includes all functions of a medical assistant.
- Assist with the training of medical and lab assistants, and volunteer staff on health education.
- Review charts, lab test results, and encounter forms for completeness and to assess follow-up as needed
- Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Practice Manager.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Experience:
- Must be CURRENTLY credentialed as a Medical Assistant with one of the following certifications: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Medical Technologist Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); National Center for Competency Testing; National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or National Allied Health Test Registry; Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NR-CMA)
- BLS Certification required
- Five years of MA experience in a medical setting is preferred.
