Lead Principal Engineer

Summary of the role: 

Navitaire is looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to join our New Skies Core development team! This individual is a crucial leader in the engineering organization. They will collaborate with technology leaders to influence the operations and platform landscape and interface with product teams to design and prioritize application enhancements. They will prioritize modernization, scalability, efficiency, performance, robustness and flexibility in our solutions. 

 

In this role, you will support our enterprise-scale applications. You will provide leadership to Navitaire’s engineering community by owning key functionality and initiatives. You will collaborate closely with product engineering teams, and technology platform teams to establish governance structures. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with various groups - including but not limited to Engineering, Technology, Security, Operations, Delivery, and Business - to drive value-driven decisions and outcomes. 

 

​This is a hybrid position and would require you to be in the local office 2-3 days a week.  

  

About the ideal candidate:  

• 10+ years of experience designing and delivering software applications. 

• 5+ years of architecture experience in a complex enterprise ecosystem. 

• Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 

• Must have strong technical knowledge. C#, .Net Core, Splunk, Git, WinDbg and MSSQL are preferred. 

• Hands-on, real-world experience with modern architectural patterns and practices. 

• Proven experience in delivering solutions that are based on industry standards using Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS capabilities. 

• Experience with API centric design and development with a deep understanding of RESTful API practices, and their on-going evolution is highly preferred. 

• Experience with network monitoring tools, TCP, threading, race conditions, TLS handshake. 

• Effective communication skills to mentor and facilitate collaboration across multiple groups, ability to present solutions, and build consensus. 

• Deep Understanding of SDLC, CI/CC processes for scale including blue/green, red/black, canary, CI/CD, and resiliency engineering. 

• A proven record of leading modernization efforts is highly desirable. 

• Willingness to grow business domain knowledge and support Navitaire products in production. 

• Travel industry experience is a plus.
