The Boeing Space & Mission Systems (SMS), Chief Engineering Department is seeking a Program Chief Engineer (Lead or Senior). This role plays a critical leadership role across multiple proprietary Space Mission Systems (SMS) satellite programs assuring quality engineering in design, build, delivery, issue and risk management of space systems. This chief engineering position sets the vision and implements the strategies for creating an engineering center of excellence for a future proprietary portfolio of satellite products. National Programs is a portfolio of classified programs within Boeing Space Mission Systems within Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems. We are looking to hire a program Chief Engineer to support a program in this portfolio of programs.
The program chief engineer will assure all technical aspects of a space program are executed properly including product definition, validation, software and systems engineering, design integration, test and evaluation, and certification for the Boeing team and all associated supplier work content. The Program Chief Engineer will also develop multi-disciplined skills, model-based tools, and standardized processes to deliver engineering for Space products through the lifecycle of the programs. The program chief engineers will also be direct reports to the National Programs Chief Engineer
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.
- Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.
- Develops new and follow on concepts that will expand product or services lines. Anticipates change and organizes processes and resources to proactively respond.
- Identifies performance metrics and ensures that work and project breakdown structure (WBS/PBS), schedule and resource loading is completed by the team.
- Develops and communicates responsibility authority accountability (RAA) to define team members' roles and responsibilities.
- Develops, maintains and distributes team organization chart as needed. Leads project execution to complete the work statement.
- Identifies performance metrics. Plans, identifies and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program.
- Incorporates lessons learned into strategic process improvements. Prepares and presents outcomes, assessments and corrective action initiatives to Boeing management.
- Works independently.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the El Segundo, CA location.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- This position requires the ability to obtain a Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) - Current Pre-Start, and requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 10+ years’ experience in space systems development.
- 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
- Current Tier 5 security investigation or active DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong Communication, Adaptability, Decision Making, Customer Focus, Integrated Systems, Engineering Analysis, and Requirements/Tracing skillset.
- Level 6 (Senior): Typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
