The Team:
Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS) is a part of the Department of Health (DOH) that cares for the needs of clients accessing treatment Alcohol and other Drugs in Southern Tasmania. The service operates on a Multidisciplinary team model of care, all our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. The role is situated in the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit (IPWU) of the Alcohol and Drug Service at St John's Park in New Town. We are a friendly, supportive and welcoming team. As a member of the IPWU team you will specialise in providing care to people seeking to address issues around their substance use.
The Role:
This position is part of a small clinical team in the IPWU. The RN will work with other EN's, RNs, and Medical Officers to provide the support to patients seeking to address the issues around their substance use. Offering safe withdrawal from the substance they are currently using, and safe discharge planning.
You will need:
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence-based practice in the practice setting.
- Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development.
- Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
