Job Title: Law Adjunct Faculty - 1st Year Academies Instructor

WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS POSITION

The 1st Year Academies Instructor will work with the Law School's faculty and

plays a key role in delivering intensive, simulation-based legal training to first-year law students participating in the BYU Law Academies Program. Working in collaboration with BYU Law faculty and elite legal practitioners, the instructor helps guide students through real-world legal scenarios designed to bridge academic learning with high-level law practice. This role requires strong engagement, mentorship, and a commitment to maintaining the program’s high standards of professionalism and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support simulation-based learning exercises in a fast-paced, practice-oriented environment

  • Mentor and provide individualized feedback to students on legal analysis, writing, and professional skills

  • Collaborate with faculty and practitioner instructors to ensure cohesive delivery of curriculum

  • Model professionalism and uphold program expectations as a representative of BYU Law

  • Assist in coordinating program logistics and ensuring a high-quality student experience

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS ROLE?

Required Degree: JD required. Required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience

Required

  • Experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring in a higher education setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, practitioners, peers, and students

  • High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail

  • Interest in mentoring and legal skills development

  • A commitment to the BYU Law School mission and the AIMS of a BYU Education.
