Job Summary
The Product Manager is a key strategic role in the business unit responsible for managing the portfolio of products within a specific end market segment. This individual will lead the development and implementation of the portfolio management plan including the portfolio strategy, new product development facilitation, commercialization of new products, marketing and promotion of existing products and product life cycle management. This role will report directly to Sr. Marketing Portfolio Manager.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Independently operate and run portfolio of products for specific end market.
- Own end-to-end product lifecycle from concept phase through development and launch to end of life.
- Facilitate new product development pipeline aligned to meet customer and end market needs via collaboration with commercial stakeholders.
- Identify target applications with current and potential competitive differentiation for new product development and develop business cases.
- Maintain annual roadmaps aligned with market segment and customer needs for new product launches, strategic marketing material deployment, and product training sessions.
- Product portfolio management including competitive performance analysis, competitive price analysis, list pricing setting and margin targets, profitability analysis, and SKU rationalization and consolidation.
- Collaboration with key functional teams including sales, finance, technology, manufacturing, planning, customer service and sourcing.
- Complies with all Kennametal ethical and policy guidelines.

Requirements
- 4 yr. degree preferred in Engineering or Business/Marketing. Specific to end market preferred.
- 5-8 years related work experience
- Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration, and inter-personal skills
- Time and information management, business acumen, problem solving, planning, and organizing.
- Champion for customers by understanding product usage and trends to drive strategy.
- Leading multi-functional collaboration and/or project management experience preferred.
- Industry experience related to business unit market segments preferred.
- Self-starter, ability to operate without frequent direct instruction.
