We are seeking to hire candidates for our Director Of Transportation-Bus Operations, Control Center(6004).

Salary Range: $104,000.00-$130,000.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Plan and direct operational and administrative activities relating to transportation services and personnel of the district or service supervision. Coordinate all activities involving staff development and service quality with internal as well as external agencies. Responsible for programs and activities to achieve optimum use of facilities, equipment and staffing in providing safe, reliable and efficient transportation services.

Bus Operations Control Center

 Directs the administrative and operational and activities relating to the functions of the Control Center. Coordinates all activities involving staff development and service quality with internal as well as external agencies. Responsible for programs and activities to achieve optimum use of facilities, equipment and staffing in providing safe, reliable and efficient transportation services.

DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES

Bus Operations Control Center

 1. Directs the activities of Bus Operations Control Center personnel.

2. Ensures that all policies of the Control Center and the Authority are followed.

3. Develops and implements procedures required to maintain and improve SEPTA’s transit service performance.

4. Directs the accumulation and dissemination of data necessary to evaluate performance to all SEPTA departments concerned.

5. Coordinates with Bus Operations and other departments to ensure required level of service is maintained.

6. Directs communications to customers, media and other departments to ensure a well-informed ridership and staff during planned and unplanned service disruptions.

7. Ensures authorized manpower needed to staff the Control Center is maintained and that each employee in the Control Center is fully trained and receives ongoing training as required. 

8. Monitors performance and attendance records for supervisory and operating employees and administer appropriate mentoring/disciplinary measures when needed as well as monitoring and controlling sick, injured-on-duty, and overtime rates.

 9. Coordinates activities during emergencies and service disruptions. Recommends and implements necessary changes to service.

10. Prepares and submits annual performance reports on all Control Center personnel under his/her supervision.

11. Manages the reporting system to document occurrences involving service delays, passenger incidents, equipment failures and defects.

12. Ensures all notifications required are properly communicated, including managerial notifications and other emergency notifications.

13. Ensures Morning Reports are developed checked for accuracy and published on time.

14. Performs other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bus Operations Control Center

  • Bachelor’s Degree and ten (10) years progressively responsible experience required, with a preference for a Control Center environment.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education (i.e. two (2) years of related experience, equating to one (1) year of formal post high school education) may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills as well as analytical and people skills.
