ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Materials Engineer in Costa Mesa, Ca, that has a solid foundation in materials science and engineering first principles, and an intrinsic drive to build on that foundation. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist in the development and testing of new materials to meet engineering and performance specifications.
  • Participate in the characterization and analysis of composite materials using techniques such as nondestructive testing, mechanical testing, and failure analysis.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and mentors to develop professional engineering skills and knowledge
  • Contribute to the selection of materials for various applications considering factors such as mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and manufacturability.
  • Define and conduct test plans and process substantiation protocols, review and analyze data.
  • Support the team in supplier development and qualification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve material-related issues and improve product reliability.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in materials science and engineering.
  • Document experimental procedures and results, and present findings to the team and stakeholders.
  • Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision.

 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of materials science or composite experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of composite material processing and characterization techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering principles to practical applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance as needed.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands on experience with composites, manufacturing, and/or testing.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a comprehensive material characterization effort.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and materials simulation tools.

 

 

 

US Salary Range$120,000$180,000 USD

 

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
