Position Summary
The Attending Physician, General Medicine will provide part-time general medical ambulatory care to adults in the primary care setting. Typical Duties
- Conducts direct patient care sessions per week, as assigned by the Division Chair
- Works under the direction of the Clinic Lead of each clinical area or service of work.
- Must be able to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to travel to worksites throughout Cook County Health (CCH)
- Functions as a member of the healthcare team in the health center, working collaboratively with mid-level providers, as assigned
- Participates in staff and other related meetings.
- Completes all clinical duties in a timely fashion, including charting of patient visits
- Participates in teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and other health professionals
- Maintains continuing medical education (CME) and participates in other professional activities
- Participates in other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university.
- Licensed as a Physician and Surgeon in the State of Illinois prior to starting employment
- Must be cleared for privileges by Medical Staff Services by start of employment
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine and must obtain board certification within two (2) years of starting employment
- Completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine prior to starting employment
- One (1) year of prior experience in primary care practice
- One (1) year of experience with electronic medical record documentation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of ACGME requirements
- Knowledge of collaborative/supervisory agreement requirements for advanced practice providers
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with clinical documentation requirements
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with accreditation and regulatory agency requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and empathy skills
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
- Must be able to travel to worksites throughout Cook County Health (CCH)
- Demonstrate analytical and organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict management/resolution skills
- Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and precision in decision making
- Ability to work varying hours as determined by changing clinic, and CCH needs
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced and stressful environment
- Ability to adhere to department policies and standards utilizing best practices
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure when challenged
- Ability to function autonomously and as a team member in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to see and hear clearly (including with correction)
- Demonstrate superb hand washing and sanitizing practices
- Demonstrate the ability to follow department specific engineering, work practice controls and work area safety precautions
- Must follow CCH protocol when exposed to noise, chemicals, disease, blood borne pathogens, patient violence, and procedural injuries
