Industrial Services Tech Apprentice

POSITION SUMMARY 

Through a combination of coursework and on-the-job training, the apprentice will learn the skills of a full-time Industrial Services Utility Operator. A fully trained Industrial Services Utility Operator efficiently controls the daily operations of all Utility and Facility related support systems.

 

APPRENTICE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER THE DIRECTION OF PROPER SUPERVISION:

  • Monitor control room and HMI systems. Track and make all required adjustments to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
  • Work alongside lead technicians in a wide variety of disciplines including facilities and utilities. Includes but not limited to the following systems: steam, compressed air, RO water, Ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, WWTP and electrical. Building and grounds maintenance to include overhead door repairs, plumbing, rooftop, painting, renovations, and landscape activities. All other work as assigned.
  • Perform and maintain compliance of work orders as scheduled in the SAP CMMS.
  • Assist with all maintenance activities performed by Nestlé personnel, outside vendors, contractors and suppliers.
  • Perform all housekeeping duties in the ISV Department necessary to maintain work areas at a level consistent with Nestle standards and workplace organization.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and permitting procedures for confined space, LOTO, fall hazard and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Complete safety training and computer assignments on time.
  • Perform all other duties as required or directed by supervision.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Highschool diploma or GED - REQUIRED
  • Adhere to all apprenticeship policies per Nestle Standards of Apprenticeship Program.
  • Apprentices must complete and graduate from the program on time. All coursework required must be completed and achieve the following certifications:
    • Ivy Tech – Nestle Technical Certificate Degree
    • RETA CARO – Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator
    • RETA CIRO – Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator
    • IDEM – Wastewater Class B License

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Desire to be the best of the best, while learning on-the-job Mechanical and Electrical applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Work independently with minimal supervision. Must be willing to work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Strong communicator that is dependable, motivated, and dedicated.
  • Must demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to analyze data and make decisions/recommendations based on analysis.
  • Ability and willingness to operate and support a positive Nestle culture and follow established values.
  • Initiative-taking individual that takes responsibility and keeps a clean work environment.
  • Able to work in a team environment where honest communication, positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability is expected.
  • Meticulous individual who accurately records information.
  • Able to work off-shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Computer literate (utility systems, SAP CMMS, emails).
  • Positive conflict management skills.
  • Accountable for personal development & improvement. Keep track of Apprenticeship status and records.
