Job Description
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based Medical Affairs colleague and medical/scientific expert. The MSL focuses on supporting research collaboration and engagement with healthcare providers, providing fair and balanced (non-promotional) education, and scientific exchange. You’ll communicate new and important medical content related to the safe and appropriate use of SIR-Spheres® Y-90 resin microspheres on- and off-label to health care professionals (HCP) in local, regional, and national capacities. This means providing fair and balanced scientific information in response to unsolicited medical requests from HCPs in a manner that’s compliant. You’ll also provide therapeutic and product expertise for your region and other Medical Affairs and clinical development needs. Contributing customer insights to the development of brand medical strategies and facilitating both sponsored and investigator-initiated research (IIR) activities too.

Accountabilities would include many components, much of which are captured below. You will:
- Provide credible scientific expertise within Sirtex and share scientific insights that will impact company strategies.
- Identify, profile, and provide scientific exchange with external experts.
- Support evidence-generation activities by aiding and maintaining awareness of clinical trial activity, support company-sponsored trials by helping to identify appropriate sites and investigators, engaging investigators, sharing trial updates, identifying challenges related to the trial, and communicating relevant information to internal stakeholders.
- Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information associated with our products.
- Respond to unsolicited requests regarding interest in investigator-initiated trials (IIT).
- Provide non-promotional scientific support activities at major scientific congresses; and collect, summarize insights, and share relevant scientific information presented at congresses within your Medical Affairs team.
- Collect, summarize, and communicate actionable scientific insights across the Medical Affairs team to further drive the Medical Affairs strategy.
- Formulate and update your specific regional scientific engagement plans consistent with our field Medical Affairs strategy and other medical function priorities.
- Support colleagues by engaging in peer coaching and teamwork across the organization.
- Contribute to the creation of training material for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support speaker training to ensure continued scientific support in the field.
- Organize educational meetings (i.e., local scientific advisory boards) as requested.
Qualifications
We care about liver cancer patients and that means we care about the education and expertise of the people we hire. In this role, the highest academic degree that can be awarded in a particular field in either a health science or clinical discipline is strongly preferred to include MD, PharmD, Ph.D., or Advanced nursing degree; a master’s degree in health science (i.e., MSN) with extensive clinical experience could also be considered.
To be successful in this role, we’ll require that you have:
