Assistant Vice President of Anesthesia Virtua Health | Southern New Jersey
Virtua Health, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit health system, is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Anesthesia to provide leadership and strategic direction for our anesthesia services across five hospitals. This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of anesthesia care, enhance clinical excellence, and drive operational performance across a dynamic healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership:
- Support the development and execution of system-wide anesthesia strategy in alignment with Virtua Health’s mission and goals
- Oversee day-to-day operations of anesthesia services across multiple sites, ensuring efficient, high-quality care delivery
- Identify and implement opportunities for growth, access, and operational improvement
Team Leadership & Engagement:
- Partner with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and administrative leaders to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment
- Support recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives across anesthesia services
- Promote a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
Quality & Safety:
- Ensure adherence to clinical best practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and improve quality metrics, patient outcomes, and patient experience
Operational Excellence:
- Drive performance improvement initiatives, including OR efficiency, throughput, and resource utilization
- Collaborate with perioperative and hospital leadership to align priorities and enhance service delivery
Collaboration & Partnership:
- Build strong relationships with physicians, hospital executives, and interdisciplinary teams
- Serve as a key liaison between anesthesia providers and system leadership
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with board certification in Anesthesiology.
- Significant clinical and leadership experience in anesthesia, ideally in a complex healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing operations, and advancing clinical programs.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
In compliance with New Jersey pay transparency laws, all physician roles include a posted minimum base salary. The minimum base salary for this position is $615,000.00 per year. F
