Guest House Housekeeper - PT

Join our Guest House Team at Davidson College!  The Carnegie Guest House is a bed and breakfast located on Davidson's campus.  Guests are typically alumni of the college, parents of current students, or prospective students and their families.  We are seeking a positive individual to perform general housekeeping, interact with our overnight guests, help set up breakfast each morning, occasionally helping with guest check-in, and support the supervising staff with day to day operations. 

The position is part-time for 20 hours per week (4 hours per day for 5 days a week).  Successful candidates will be able to work weekends.  Basic computer skills are a plus.  This position will be called upon to work independently at times.  The Guest House team is a small, close-knit group and Davidson College is a terrific place to work!  

Responsibilities:

• Clean, scrub, mop, shampoo and polish floors
• Clean walls, windows, woodwork, venetian blinds, fixtures, carpets, entrance/exit mats and other surfaces. 
• Sweep and clean walkways 
• Clean showers and tubs
• Clean and disinfect restrooms 
• Empty trash containers and sanitize such containers to meet college standards and sanitary requirements on a as needed basis.
• Change attachments to necessary equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment/tools.
• Pull trash and recycling and place in assigned locations for pick up.
• Keep inventory of tools and supplies needed to complete all necessary task
• Occasional weekends
• Maintain a welcoming environment for students/staff/guests
• Maintain good employee relations
• Makeovers/clean for guest rooms

Required Qualifications:

HS Diploma and minimum one year experience

Willingness to take directions but able to assess needs and take action when necessary

Ability to work well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic computer skills

Ability to learn the reservation software

Ability to work unsupervised if necessary

Knowledge of the campus and surrounding area a plus
