Position Summary:

Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to join the Investment Accounting team and be responsible for the accounting operations and the review of the investment reconciliation between Clearwater and the general ledger ensuring the accuracy, integrity and adequate substantiation of the investment balances supporting the GAAP and STAT Investment Controllership areas within Investment Accounting. This individual would be required to bridge the operations and the accounting for investment activity to support the accounting and reporting. This position will also support cross functional initiatives related to process enhancements and redesign related to achieving concurrent and consistent delivery of investment results across multiple basis. Ability to process and analyze a high level of data from various sources is a must. Collaborating with multiple functions and departments to is a critical component of this role requiring excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and critical thinking.  All candidates must, in addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of the investment reconciliation between Clearwater and the general ledger; including journal entries, account reconciliations and account certifications
  • Complete month end closing procedures including analytical reviews of investment balances, unsettled trades, suspense accounts to support the accuracy of our financial statements
  • Ensuring timely clearing of suspense activity, proper recognition of investment-related transactions in the general ledger through partnership with Investment Accounting third-party service providers and finance-wide stakeholders
  • Preparation of the quarterly Statement of Cash Flow for investments
  • Preparation of the flux analysis across multiple basis
  • Ensure that transactional activity in Clearwater supports the required accounting
  • Ownership monthly Blackline certifications (BSS process) and general ledger mapping
  • Provide support for audit requests
  • Perform control functions in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC Model Audit Rule.
  • Facilitate mentorship and professional development for junior staff members
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.  
  • 5-7 years relevant professional experience in Investment Accounting or Investment Operations,
  • Knowledge in insurance company Investment US GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and reporting.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls and public company experience
  • Experience with Clearwater Analytics preferred
  • Proven ability to successfully handle close processes, competing priorities and multiple deliverables
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel, Hyperion query tools (FCC, Essbase), Peoplesoft platforms, data warehouse a plus
  • Strong focus on process improvement and automation
