BAS Project/Service Field Supervisor

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of project and service department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. In addition to the responsibilities below, the Field Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager (OM) in executing the day-to-day operations of the department. The Field Supervisor will have specified direct reports but will work with the entire team from time-to-time.

- Assist Operations Manager (OM) with organizing labor workflow for department.
- Act as lead technical support, field trainer, mentor and coach for field associates.
- Provide individual accountability of direct reports.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings regularly with direct reports (Field Project and Service Technicians).
- Perform annual review of direct reports.
- Assist OM with determining annual merit increases and profit-sharing allocations for department.
- Assist OM with identifying priorities across company projects or interests and provide feedback to OM to meet resource utilization targets.
- Attend project meetings, when necessary.
- Review records such as field reports Request for Information (RFI’s), change proposals and change orders.
- Maintain OSHA 30 Certification.
- Assist sales department with business development opportunities with existing customers.
- Act as a technical resource to customers and field employees as needed.
- Maintain a weekly field presence on jobs to understand various needs.
- Assist OM with projecting workload and providing feedback on staffing needs.
- Work with OM to create, deliver, coordinate, and maintain training programs to allow for field development.
- Work closely with project managers to determine project checkout and commissioning needs.
- Work with direct reports to set career growth tracks.
- Assist OM with developing and implementing employee engagement activities.
- Work with OM to develop a culture of extreme ownership among specialists.
- Support a performance-based culture, both team and individual, to assure continuous improvement and alignment with enterprise vision, mission, and objectives.
- Drive employee engagement, training, and development in the key areas of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Provide direct oversight for field technicians.
- Ensure that all quality and safety standards, specifications and policies are met, drive continuous improvements, and collaborate with the team to drive efficiencies.
- Support a culture based on open/honest dialogue and involvement with all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance.
- Support a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and site safety as well as other aspects of the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field preferred, however, an equivalent combination of education and experience (High School Diploma or GED equivalent a minimum requirement) will also be considered.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in the Building Controls field or related area that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job (***Johnson Metasys, FX and Tridium knowledge a major plus).
- Proficient with Office 365, especially Excel, should understand pivot tables, and data query methods for report generation; Teams proficiency is also a plus.
- Experience working with a large cross-section of people, from unskilled laborers to customers/end user.
- Able to pass background and pre-employment drug screen.
- Experience in construction or construction management is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Johnson Metasys, Johnson FX, and Tridium product lines and software, but proficiency with another vendor’s software that would translate to above is also acceptable.
- Prior experience leading, coaching, and mentoring others.
- Prior experience supporting construction and field employee groups, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Ability to manage and direct a group of workers; ability to supervise, counsel and mediate; ability to persuade, convince, influence and train others; ability to advise and interpret on the application of policies, procedures, and standards to specific situations; ability to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others within well-established policies, procedures, and standards.
