About this role

SpiderRock Advisors, LLC (“SRA”), headquartered in Chicago, IL, is rapidly growing technology-enabled provider of portfolio enhancement solutions to the wealth management and institutional allocator segments of the ~$80 trillion global asset management industry. SRA specializes in the design and implementation of customized derivative enhancement and overlay strategies and other alternative strategies for wealth managers and their clients.  Many prominent investment advisors and have adopted the SRA platform to have access to its innovative portfolio enhancement strategies, thus driving its growth in assets under management.

SRA is actively looking for talented Investment Research Analyst for supporting and often leading work in asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager selection and monitoring, and best practices in portfolio management. Uses specific knowledge of a discipline to achieve goals through own work. Has specific knowledge or expertise typically gained through formal education or equivalent experience. Uses expertise to provide guidance to others as a project manager or consultant. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Leads others to solve complex problems. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Research, develop and implement strategic and goals-based asset allocation methods for private wealth.
  • Develop quantitative and long-term capital market assumptions and conduct portfolio optimization.
  • Determine optimal manager combinations for the total portfolio and single asset classes.
  • Research manager performance and risk across asset classes, and develop enhanced analytical tools and methods.
  • Evaluate the performance, risk, investment process/people of investment firms and products for the WM investment platform.
  • Support IAC manager selection and monitoring with research reports, analytics, manager interviews, and IAC scorecard production.
  • Support Portfolio Managers (and clients) with thought leadership, client-facing materials and resources, and education.
  • Helps develop and maintain investment tools and monitoring reports.
  • Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions
  • Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives
  • Work is guided by functional policies

What SpiderRock Is Looking For:

  • 2-7+ year’s investment experience. MBA/CFA (or PhD) preferred.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Expert knowledge of academic and practitioner research in financial economics and investments, with strong quantitative skills in data analytics and statistical methods.
  • Ability to apply financial theory and economic intuition to empirical investment analysis, and extend analysis to include qualitative considerations.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to code in R or Python is a plus.
  • Requires critical thinking, creativity, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate.
  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  •      Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
