Description Overview
As the Senior Sanitation Supervisor at Perrigo Vermont, you will provide leadership and mentoring of department-based work team leads and operators on multiple shifts. The position is responsible for leading the implementation and execution of the Sanitation Program throughout the Vermont manufacturing facility. This position works alongside Operations and Quality to ensure plant cleanliness to infant formula industry standards. Provide leadership, industrial best practices and direction to the entire facility (safety, operations, maintenance, sanitation, etc.) and serve as a technical liaison between each of those functional groups. The Senior Sanitation Supervisor leads the Sanitation Department by empowering all team members to deliver on safe, high-quality, cost-competitive products, with 100% engagement and zero loss mindset.
Scope of the Role
- Serve as technical expert on sanitation practices and clean in place practices for industrial dryers
- Must be able to communicate effectively (both verbally and written), motivate and supervise others, handle multiple assignments, handle wide diversity of assignments, and work with minimal supervision.
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple complex tasks and deadlines.
- Must be highly results oriented and able to work in a changing environment where a high degree of teamwork and collaboration are required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication skills, and previous experience using computers.
- Train personnel to understand procedures of cleaning for food safety, and personnel safety.
- Enforce the company safety policies and communicate the safety practices of employees (i.e. lock out tagout, safe lifting, safe use and handling of chemicals, maintain organized work areas, etc.).
- Directly manage the sites 3rd party janitorial staff responsible for office and shared space cleaning.
- Work closely with QA during external and internal audits
- Aid in the development and implementation of corrective actions along with QA.
- Develop, implement, and enhance training and programs for production personnel, including MasterSanitation Schedule, daily tasks, maintenance work schedule, production schedule, etc.
- Focus on continuous improvement and resolve issues by working with the various functions in the facility(safety, QA, operations, maintenance, etc.).
- Evaluate and manage chemicals in the plant and work closely with chemical supplier.
- Review the Sanitation Program for effectiveness and determine continuous improvement strategies for the program.
- Participate in spot inspections of employees cleaning practices, paperwork, cleaned equipment and work alongside QA in performing equipment inspections.
- Provide support for QA as a technical expert and lead troubleshooting efforts in order to find the rootcause on OOS/OOT microbiological results in product and/or facility environment.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's of Science in Food Technology, Engineering, Microbiology preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of experience with 3-4 years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing sanitation environment (including clean in place practices) is required.
- Certified Sanitarian or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
- Strong, in-depth knowledge in HACCP, Microbiology, Sanitation, Chemical Safety, Pest Control and Quality Systems.
- Understand and comply with government regulations relating to OSHA, FDA, and EPA.
- Ability to provide work direction across multiple production areas and shifts.
- Demonstrated understanding of different continuous improvement techniques and ability to utilize appropriate tools to guide and derive root causes.
- Ability to handle and resolve conflicts and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with PLC based control systems, SAP, cGMP and training of others is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand process flow, process and instrumentation, piping, mechanical and structural drawings.
