Responsibilities

Job Description Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervision of maintenance activities within a highly automated food processing facility, responsible for packaging machinery, associated equipment and utilities. Hire, train and oversee workers engaged in setting up, installing, and maintaining machinery and equipment and in fabrication of parts. Determine maintenance procedures in accordance with company operating policies and procedures. Maximize efficiency and availability of packaging equipment. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental sanitation, and applicable requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • PM development: Creates and implements preventive maintenance (PM) and works towards predictive maintenance culture optimizing maintenance routines for equipment and utilities.
  • PM Scheduling: Schedule maintenance activities (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.,) including service requests and preventive/corrective maintenance, assigns and distributes the work to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance lead, reviews scope and frequency of assignments with the maintenance lead and makes changes where required.
  • Manages and updates CMMS information related to maintenance (PM task revisions, assets, bill of materials, etc.) and maintains an accurate asset registry within the CMMS.
  • Attends daily morning shift hand-over maintenance meetings to review the status of outstanding issues from previous shift.
  • PM supervision & PM Auditing: Monitor PMs assuring execution on a timely manner and audits them on a periodic basis.
  • Keeps track of maintenance KPIs and reports it to the maintenance manager.
  • Supervise & Train: Oversee maintenance technicians, assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in equipment, understand all the systems within the facility well enough to train and supervise the work of others.
  • Prepares and manages time schedule for all maintenance groups
  • Actively executes assigned projects and day-to-day maintenance work as necessary
  • Identifies non-value-added elements and improves the operation by making changes to existing process/equipment.
  • Assist in handling emergency situations or after-hours calls for repair and maintenance
  • Act as a back for maintenance manager
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing facility maintenance services; identify resource needs.
  • Monitor and control supplies for equipment and utilities, order supplies and tools as necessary.
  • Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; ensure implementation.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the field of facility maintenance; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.
  • Performs root cause failure analysis of breakdowns triggering CAPA/RCA, owns and participates in countermeasure development and implementation.
  • Make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares cost estimates for equipment modifications.
  • Coordinates contractors providing contract services.
  • Maintain the inventory of tools and common-use equipment.
  • Review staffing needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Ensure that plant safety rules are being followed and respected by direct-report employees and other plant employees.
  • Identify shutdown projects, plan and allocate resources, manage execution of work and follow up with documentation and integration of equipment into established procedures.
