JOB OBJECTIVE:
Using expert knowledge of insurance domains and BI tools, document complex business reporting requirements and lead other members of the team in solving business problems. Responsible for collaboration with business areas to define data needs to solve business problems and translate them into technical requirements. Advocate accurate and consistent use of self-service BI tools, and lead efforts to improve data literacy across the organization. Lead solution implementation efforts in both BI reporting and Data Governance processes to support increasingly effective business intelligence and data management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead others to apply BI tools to solve complex business problems. Meet with business partners to define and document business data requirements for reporting needs. Apply business knowledge and analysis skills to BI domain to define and solve business problems across multiple business domains. Mentor team members on insurance practices to increase overall effectiveness of the team. Work closely with project teams at the earliest possible project phase to identify, clarify and document data requirements and business impact to assist with impact analysis of the project to warehouse and BI reporting domains. Understand and communicate business drivers to help BI developers gain insight into business needs. Establish a data requirements practice providing clear and consistent documentation, including data flows, reporting specifications, mapping documents and data dictionaries with the goal of clearly defining data use and improving data management practices. Be an advocate of data literacy and data governance efforts. Champion the use of and advancement of data cataloging within IT and business representatives. Listen, participate and perform well in customer service to solve business problems. Articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Represent data team working in cross functional teams. Interact and collaborate with teams effectively to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate meetings with business stakeholders. Contribute to test planning for projects and enhancements within Data Services. Participate in continuous improvements of Data Governance practices. Develop a true understanding of the role and how it impacts the team, division and company. Understanding the impact of attitude on the company and how actions contribute to the overall success of the company. Through project work and daily interactions, continue to develop understanding of what success means to you, your team and your customers. Consistently engage in behaviors that produce positive experiences and outcomes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or related.
- Prefer 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry in multiple domains.
- Prefer 2+ years of experience with BI development and/or tools or related IT experience.
- Must possess basic knowledge of database, SQL concepts and BI tools.
- Logical thinking in making decisions, completing work tasks and solving problem
