How will you drive value within the organization as a Senior Release Manager?
- Release Management
- Plan, schedule, and manage software releases, including coordination of release activities across multiple teams.
- Oversee the deployment process, ensuring that all software releases are delivered on time and within scope
- Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
- Ensure proper documentation and communication of release processes, policies, and procedures.
- Source Code Administration
- Administer source code repositories (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps), ensuring proper version control and access management.
- Collaborate with development teams to enforce coding standards, branching strategies, and merge processes.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of source code management tools.
- Automate and streamline code build, testing, and deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaboration and Development
- Build software solutions in an agile, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Serve as a liaison between development and operations teams to ensure smooth release cycles.
- Communicate release timelines, issues, and updates to stakeholders and management.
- Provide training and support to development teams on best practices for source code management and release processes.
- Continuous Improvement
- Continuously improve the release management and source code administration processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
- Implement and maintain tools for monitoring, alerting, and reporting on release and source code management activities.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices and train the teams on their use and implementation.
What should you already know to be successful as a Senior Release Manager?
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field required
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a related role required
- Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
- Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Team player that can adapt in a fast pace and changing environment
