Job Description

Job Summary:

The Process Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, optimization, monitoring, and maintenance of extrusion equipment used in the production of wood plastic composite (WPC) products. This role ensures that all processes are running safely and efficiently, producing high-quality products that meet customer expectations. Our Meridian facility operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are looking for someone with flexible availability to fill this role.

  • 1 opening on B shift; Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, & Every other Saturday 6:30pm to 7:00am
  • Starting Wage; $22/hr to $30/hr DOE plus $1/hr night differential
  • Full benefits package on 1st day of employment

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of safety.

Setup, Operation, and Quality control:

  • Set up and assist in operating extrusion machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
  • Perform start-up, changeover, and shutdown procedures for extrusion lines.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of products using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.
  • Document process parameters and product quality data.
  • Implement corrective actions to address quality issues.

Process Optimization:

  • Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and quality.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce waste, increase output, and enhance product consistency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and test new extrusion techniques and materials.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and adjust process parameters to optimize machine performance and product quality.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs) for optimized processes.
  • Train production staff on new or modified processes and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in extrusion technology to continuously improve processes.

Monitoring, Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  • Monitor the extrusion process to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot process issues, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on extrusion equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Assist with repairs and coordinate with maintenance teams for major repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle, control, and feel objects, tools, or controls with precision. This includes setting up and operating extrusion machines and auxiliary equipment, as well as adjusting machine settings.
  • Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. This is essential for performing start-up, changeover, and shutdown procedures for extrusion lines.
  • Visual Acuity: Sharpness of vision to conduct visual and dimensional inspections of products using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools. This also includes the ability to read and document process parameters and product quality data accurately.
  • Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods. This is necessary for monitoring the extrusion process, conducting regular inspections, and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
