Oversees sterile processing staff performing the processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies, ensuring efficient and safe patient care.


 

Job Description:


 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides supervision for sterile processing staff and oversees the daily activities and scheduling of the team.
  • Ensures adherence to safety standards and quality metrics for processing and providing sterilized instruments needed for patient care. Monitors compliance with sterilization policies and procedures and record keeping.
  • Coordinates training and evaluation of instrument technicians. Serves as a resource and model, assisting as needed.
  • Maintains Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) Instrument Tracking System files and reports and collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure that sterile instruments and equipment are available when needed.
  • Coordinates the repair of critical patient care items and instrumentation.
  • Maintains assigned work areas and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe environment.


Education Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field, preferred.


Licensure Requirement:

Certifications:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), preferred.


Skills:

Working knowledge of the standards of infection control.


Experience:

  • Three years of instrument or case cart processing experience or operating room experience, preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferred.
  • Experience as a sterile processing technician, preferred.
