Senior Staff Accountant

Job Description

David Weekley Homes is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with strong analytical skills.  This position will be located at our corporate office close to the intersection of I-10 Katy Freeway and 610W.

Primary Responsibilities

• Using highly developed analytical skills and a team approach, participate in the month-end closing to produce timely and accurate financial statements
• Prepare journal entries, run reports, perform inquiries, and complete general ledger reconciliations
• Assist with Financial Audit and Bond compliance
• Perform ad hoc analysis and manage special projects
• Set up accounting processes for new business initiatives
• Respond to questions from operations on a timely basis, providing a high level of support

Qualifications

• Four year degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
• At least 3 years’ experience in the accounting field (preferably in financial analysis)
• Proficiency in Excel a must and ability to pick up new things quickly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
• JDEdwards and Essbase experience a plus but not required
• Comfortable working with all levels of management and ability to adapt communication to be effective with many types of personalities
• Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, have strong analytical skills, problem solving ability and excellent communication skills
