About the role

The Team

The Central Intake and Referral Service, including the Medicare Mental Health (formerly Head to Health) phone service, was developed as a single, statewide intake and assessment phone service that integrates with Tasmania’s existing state-based systems.

Working in a multidisciplinary environment, the Central Intake and Referral Service collaborates with healthcare providers and community partners to deliver timely, coordinated, and person-centred support, improving access and outcomes for the Tasmanian community.

The Role

  • Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through relevant assessment and refer individuals to appropriate services according to their identified level of care.
  • Provision of evidence-based assessment for clients with mental health problems and AOD concerns, that are in line with the Tasmanian Governments Rethink Initiative and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
  • Actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

You will need

  • A minimum of two years post graduate employment in a clinical area directly applicable to the Mental Health services such as Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment or Older Persons Mental Health Service area.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and understanding of mental health in relation to the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment or Older Persons Mental Health Service area with the ability to provide appropriate assessment of mental health problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, document and appropriately manage clinical risks in accordance with relevant policies to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 31 December 2026.

Salary

$117,272 to $126,182 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.

Allowances 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
