Position Overview
Novelis' Global Procurement team is eager to welcome a new Associate Category Manager to our Casthouse & Water Treatment (Refractory Reline & Repairs, Alumina, Salt, Consumables, Water & Wastewater Treatment) team! This is an excellent opportunity to join a global leader providing sustainable aluminum solutions in the beverage packaging, automotive, aerospace industries, and specialty markets!
The role is accountable for a group of sub-categories for the spend management and reporting, global RFP processes, negotiation of global and regional contracts, supplier relationship management, contract compliance and risk management, and works actively with Procurement Strategy and Transformation functions to develop supplier scorecards.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Global Strategic Source Plans that assess supply markets and contending buyers, and the position of Novelis through portfolio analysis, supplier cost analysis, strategic options, and source recommendations.
- Participates in supplier audits and improves policies and processes within the category.
- Delivers sustainable and considerable year-over-year savings through innovative cost savings solutions of a minimum of 3% of spend, develops, and implements innovative sourcing strategies for the category.
- Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships in sophisticated market environments, while minimizing the supply chain risk while maintaining Novelis' flexibility.
- Cultivate stakeholder engagement and senior-level relationships in the plants, as well as in the global regional headquarters.
- Monitor and anticipate global trends specific to each region in supply and financial markets, as well as supplier activities.
- Ensure the development of strategies and engage every region’s leadership team and functional management to gain alignment and implement plans in a dynamic environment.
- Formalizes and holds responsibility for regional and local contracts, ensuring compliance with Novelis Division of Authority and maintaining the support of the regional Legal team.
- There is a significant amount of time to be addressed on spend data and analysis, together with internal partners, including within the Molten Metal Processes (MMP) team, on specifications and drawings. Ensure timely kick-off of all global bids to increase the share of addressable spend.
- Partners with the COE Procurement Team to ensure Production Supplies and Services are delivered in a quality-conformed manner and on time.
- Lead high-value negotiations to leverage and manage cross-regional relationships with global suppliers.
- Communicate on a monthly basis, at minimum, with the Procurement teams in each global region to keep a constant update on ongoing activities.
- Supports the start in the production of new recycling and remelt centers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or similar focus.
- 5+ years of procurement or category sourcing experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with openness and flexibility towards diverse perspectives, with the ability to drive projects forward through networking and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrate negotiation expertise in diverse cultural environments within sophisticated markets to ensure that agreed savings targets are met, which lends to achieving Novelis' Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) goal.
- Demonstrates an appetite for data management. The candidate will work with Novelis' Procurement Excellence team to improve the category spend transparency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous exposure to molten metal processes and/or casthouse operations.
