About the role

Job Description

The successful candidate will join a nationally impactful team with a long history of ground-breaking missile defense related technology development and analysis in the areas of threat characterization, radar design, algorithm development, prototyping, and testing.  The candidate will contribute to and lead the group’s efforts in developing, designing, fabricating, and testing advanced sensor and missile defense flight test payload prototypes.  Example focus areas include:

  • Exploration of state of the art technologies for development of novel missile defense countermeasure designs
  • Missile defense threat engineering
  • Red teaming of current and future missile defense system architectures
  • Countermeasure performance characterization through prototype design, fabrication and test

Requirements:

  • Degree: PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field. In lieu of an PhD, a MS and 3 years of experience will be considered.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to obtain a security clearance
  • Experience with scientific computing tools (MATLAB, Python, C++, etc.)
  • Experience in prototype hardware design and fabrication
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, sponsors, and other research organizations

 

Desired Expertise or Experience:

  • Experience with any of the following: RF system design, satellite/space/suborbital payload design, system architecture definition, and data analysis
  • Development of models and simulations
  • One or more modern programming languages, such as C/C++
