Our Business Development Specialist will work out of our Energy West Division, located in Sacramento, CA. The purpose of this role is to act as SitelogIQ’s main point of contact for key organizations and plan and coordinate industry events, providing sales support to the sales team so that we get the maximum out of these memberships and activities (i.e., that the efforts result in connections and relationships that lead to new sales). The Business Development Specialist will be a key support person to the sales team, providing leads, introductions to engage the marketplace, potential customers, and assisting and collaborating with Account Executives throughout the sales process. The individual in this role understands our marketplace (customers, competitors, influencers, offerings, issues, legislative landscape, etc.), and can identify and interface with decision makers and influencers at trade organizations, professional societies, and current and potential business partners and customers. This person will establish and maintain these key relationships for the purpose of assisting the sales team in identifying sales opportunities, accessing customers, qualifying opportunities, and securing business to achieve the West Energy Division’s Sales Orders Plan.
Must be willing to travel to events and customer sites throughout California; flexible work arrangement allowing a mix of work from home, time in the office, and at events and customer sites.
Salary Range: $80k -$105k depending on experience
Business Development Specialist Responsibilities
- Main responsibilities – Liaise between SitelogIQ and key trade organizations / associations / professional societies, establishing a network of contacts / relationships with the objective of maximizing SitelogIQ’s marketing spend, effectiveness of events (e.g., conferences, trade shows, etc), and being a catalyst for sales team by creating relationships and environments that increase their effectiveness.
- Assist in the monitoring of Sales Budget, Conference/Tradeshow Budget, Entertainment Budget
- Identify opportunities for speaking roles/recognition at conferences/tradeshows
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and facilitating business development events
- Assist in implementing internal sales processes/best practices for improving efficiencies
- Assist with proposal pursuits for speaking engagements
- Assist with proposal pursuits for award submissions
- Provide Account Executives with leads, introductions, and support at customer meetings.
- Provide Account Executives with industry / market intelligence; provide Account Executives with information on pertinent legislation, policies, programs, funding opportunities, etc.; support Account Executives throughout the sales process with things like customer meeting support, information for presentations / proposals, influence you may have with stakeholders, influencers, decision makers, and so on
- Identify conferences, trade shows, and other events of importance to the Account Executives and the business.
- Establish and maintain relationships with current and targeted clients; introduce potential customers to Account Executives and then support Account Executives through the sales process.
- Assists with engaging existing clients for Letters of Recommendation
- Create innovative marketing strategies and plans for varying markets; collaborate with Marketing Manager to create and execute campaigns and materials to support sales.
- Identify quality opportunities for SitelogIQ.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of trends, bills, laws, programs, policies, and funding mechanisms that pertain to our industry and be able to present this information to the Sales Team, clients, and organizations.
- Develop and maintain documents that aid in sales efforts.
- Create measurable positive impacts to all of the team’s sales efforts.
Business Development Specialist Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree (or its equivalent in education and experience) in Business Administration/Management, Marketing, Engineering, etc.
