Summary
Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in handling patient calls and posting payments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate coordinators. This position is responsible for ensuring that all phone calls are properly answered, and payments are posed in a timely and efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures that all patient calls are answered timely and that appropriate follow-up is performed.
- Ensures that all calls are handled professionally, and customer service is exceptional.
- Oversees the timely and accurate posting payments and denials.
- Works with quality assurance to ensure that batches are balanced, complete and accurate.
- Assures compliance with self-pay and bad debt policies.
- Assists the Billing Manager in establishing and monitoring productivity standards, quality improvement and assurance and directs staff in meeting departmental goals.
- Prepares timely month end closing activities.
- Preparation of monthly spreadsheets based on month end data.
- Assists in compiling reports at month end as needed.
- Reports on status and action plans from patient service meetings
- Assists Medical Billing Specialists in establishing and maintaining Urgent Care Billing policies and procedures.
- Regularly reviews statistics and develops strategies to be more efficient
- Responsible for research of credit balance accounts and identifies source of overpayment.
- Other duties as requested
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise employees in the Billing Office
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience High school or equivalent with 5 years of medical billing experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Clinical license and certification preferred, but not required.
