The Supply Chain Logistics team is seeking a Packaging Engineering Sr. Supervisor to lead a team of packaging engineers and assistants in support of the McKinney/North Texas Pack Ship department. This role involves supervising a team of three and ensuring the successful development and implementation of packaging solutions for military and commercial equipment.
What You Will Do
- Supervise and mentor a team of three packaging engineers and assistants.
- Develop and execute contractual packaging requirements, translating them into detailed written packaging instructions for packers.
- Read and interpret military and commercial standards (e.g., Mil Std 2073, Mil Std 129, ASTM D 3951) to ensure proper mechanical and preservation protection for military equipment.
- Apply engineering principles to design protective solutions for military equipment during transit and long-term storage.
- Utilize software tools such as SAP, Creo, and Microsoft PowerPoint to create and illustrate detailed packaging steps.
- Collaborate with packaging suppliers to design, procure, and maintain required packaging materials, stock, and purchase orders.
- Lead small to medium-scale projects to package logistically complex military equipment, ensuring alignment with Packing/Shipping Teams and Manufacturing/Operations schedules.
- Support team supervisors and external sites within the organization.
- This is a 1st shift onsite position with possible additional hours and occasional Saturday shifts.
What You Will Learn
- Company paid Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) certifications will be required in the first 12 months in both 49 CFR and IATA.
Classified packing and shipping protocols.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires, a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Experience in a Management/Leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with packaging development and parametric modeling software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to lift up to 28 lbs.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience working in the defense and aerospace industry with an understanding of protocols involved, including working with Government Furnished Material (GFM).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, government contracts, or related fields, including leadership roles.
- Experience managing drawings in Creo.
- Import/Export Compliance experience.
- Basic or intermediate knowledge of database structure and simple SQL queries to generate reports for metrics and data research.
- Experience with classified and sensitive items, including Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E).
