Maintenance Area Manager
The Maintenance Area Manager is responsible for shift level execution of maintenance activities, technician leadership, and real time response to equipment issues. This role ensures maintenance plans are executed safely and effectively while supporting daily operational throughput.
The Maintenance Area Manager is hands on, shift focused, and accountable for people, execution, and short-term performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Maintenance Execution
Lead all maintenance activities during assigned shift (PMs, corrective work, breakdown response).
Ensure rapid and effective response to equipment issues impacting operations.
Coordinate closely with Operations leadership to prioritize work based on throughput and risk.
Execute work orders in accordance with maintenance standards and safety procedures.
Technician Leadership
Directly supervises maintenance technicians and leads on shift.
Assign work, manage coverage, and ensure skill alignment to task complexity.
Coach technicians on troubleshooting, quality repairs, and safe work practices.
Conduct shift handoffs with clear communication of equipment status and risks.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety standards, LOTO, and safe work practices.
Conduct safety observations, audits, and incident followups.
Ensure all work is properly documented in CMMS.
Performance & Reporting
Track and report shiftlevel KPIs (downtime, response time, PM completion).
Identify emerging equipment issues and escalate systemic risks to the Maintenance Manager.
Support RCAs with accurate data and frontline insights.
Continuous Improvement Support
Identify improvement opportunities from daily execution and operator feedback.
Support trials, equipment upgrades, and process changes led by Engineering or Maintenance Manager.
Reinforce standard work and maintenance best practices on the floor.
QUALIFICATIONS
6+ years of maintenance experience in automated or industrial environments.
Prior experience leading technicians or shift teams.
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting capability.
Working knowledge of CMMS and maintenance documentation.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
