About the role
This position will develop programming, curriculum, and training geared toward new member education, risk reduction, hazing education, and event management.
- Assist with the oversight of OSFL, focusing primarily on the development and implementation of Health and Safety Initiatives and Risk and Harm Reduction Education
- Assist in coordination of staff meetings, staff evaluations and feedback, and ad hoc professional development & trainings for OSFL Team
- Work with the Director to develop, coordinate, and implement educational curriculum focused on four major components: prevention, harm & risk reduction initiatives, office policy, and third-party vendors for OSFL
- Develop and serve as the primary staff advisor for Psi Society
- Develop and implement curriculum for the fall and spring Health and Safety Summits, bystander intervention, sober monitor training, House Director and Manager training, Living Learning Communities, Third Party Vendor Recognition, policy education and HazingEDU.
- Maintain strong working/collaborative relationships with the Center for Health Education and Wellness, University Housing, chapter advisors, (inter)national headquarters, and supporters
- Serve as primary resource for students, parents and families, faculty and staff, community, and headquarters partners on prevention, health, and safety issues related to sorority and fraternity life
- Responsible for the facilitation of community public relations related to organizational & vendor accountability including website updates, reports, publications, media releases, etc.in partnership with chapter headquarters and university communications teams.
- Develop student learning and accountability processes and outcomes related to office policy
- Serve on and Chair select university teams
- Assist with Division of Student Life and leadership & engagement staff initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: 5 years of related professional work experience (Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of full-time experience; 2 years as graduate assistant/intern is equal to 1 year of full-time experience)
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong interpersonal, communication (oral/written), listening, and student advocacy skills; Ability to work/collaborate with internal and external constituents, and foster positive and productive relationships; Ability to make sound decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Policy, Health Education, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Curriculum Design, Education, or related field; Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH); Certified Wellness Coach (or eligible and intent to become certified)
- Experience: Demonstrated commitment to the educational and holistic development of students; Experience in a higher education environment; Experience with design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum & training, especially for the sorority and fraternity community
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of NASPA/ACPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Educators; Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and privileged information and staying abreast of regulations regarding student privacy and information sharing; Knowledge of the American College Health Association’s Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education (ACHA SPHPHE) and Healthy Campus 2020 objectives; Knowledge of assessment tools; Ability to collaborate with stakeholders on campus and in community.
