Engineering Manager, Audio Algorithms

Meta is inventing the future of augmented reality — the technological evolution of mobile computing. We believe that a key component of this mission is to improve and enhance audio communication, sensing and immersion. We are looking for a leader, who loves jumping in to solve novel problems and enjoys working with interdisciplinary teams. The core responsibilities of this role requires a background in either real time audio algorithm design for capture, render or spatial audio, tuning/integration, and experience with acoustic systems or other hands on experience across the audio stack.Engineering Manager, Audio Algorithms Responsibilities

• Manage audio software engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams. Champion engineering and operational rigor, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
• Set clear expectations and create a work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
• Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees
• Drive development initiatives that combine DSP and ML audio processing

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience managing and recruiting technical teams, including performance management
• 8+ years of experience in software development with C/C++
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of experience developing, coaching, and managing engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in embedded audio software development
• Experience in digital signal processing
• Experience with machine learning techniques and deep learning models
• Experience developing audio solutions in Python or Matlab
• Knowledge in audio capture, render or spatial audio algorithms for consumer devices

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
