Position Summary
Works under limited supervision to perform advanced professional accounting work and related duties as assigned.
Pay Grade: 52
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience in accounting; AND
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Public Business Administration or related field; OR
- An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
- PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains accounting records involving technical data.
- Assists with daily reconciliations of cash and credit card payments.
- Assists with monthly reconciliations of financial reports.
- Provides information for and assists with month-end and year-end closing.
- Prepares and submits Journal entries for approval.
- Assists with audits for various sections as directed.
- Performs other related duties as required or directed.
KSA's
- Thorough knowledge of accounting theory and practices and auditing procedures.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Knowledge of budgeting; fiscal management and purchasing procedures.
- Knowledge of principles and methods of supervision.
- Knowledge of the rules; regulations and contract requirements governing the agency's financial record-keeping operations and skills in applying them.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel; Access and Word and ability to learn the County's computerized financial systems.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers.
Special Requirements
- Must be proficient in all MS Office applications (Excel Word PowerPoint and Access) with mandatory advanced Excel spreadsheet experience including creating macros pivot tables and using VLOOKUP etc.
